Trooper is a versatile synthesizer that offers a wide range of sounds, from thick basses to buttery leads and feathery pads. Its compact design makes it easy to use, while still delivering a powerful and dynamic sound experience. With its analog "fat" coating and surprising tonal variations, Trooper is a force to be reckoned with.

One of Trooper's standout features is its ability to interact and blend parameters in unique and innovative ways. For example, the oscillator volumes not only blend different signals, but also alter the characteristics of the sound depending on how they are adjusted. This allows for warm and round tones with variable harmonic content.

The primary oscillators are accompanied by an audible LFO that serves as both a sound source and a modulator with a wide frequency range. This enables FM-based sounds to combine with traditional waveforms. Additionally, a pink/white noise generator adds depth and tonal variations to pads and percussions.

Trooper's new filter implementation enhances the power of its signal generators. With settings that can be described as "throaty," the filter is capable of self-oscillation and can be controlled via the keyboard. The mated ADSR envelope shapes the sound to provide tonal immediacy and smooth frequency shifts, while the amount knob allows for precise control over the envelope shape.

The output stage features a virtual VCA that adds a "fat" tone to the sound. Further modulation is provided by a non-audible LFO and a dedicated envelope, both offering various wave shapes, BPM syncing, and key tracking. The modulation can be controlled via the mod wheel, velocity, or aftertouch.

The Esprit parameter is a unique feature of Trooper that enhances bass tones and adds an extra special touch to presets. It works in harmony with the preceding stages, giving your sounds that "je nais se quois" effect. The Get6 parameter provides one-touch access to big, mix-filling synth sounds when you need them the most.

The arpeggiator in Trooper offers five algorithms, variable note value, octave range, and gate options, inspiring creative rhythmic patterns. The "Texturizer" provides a wide range of modulation effects, including chorus, flanging, variable comb, resonant delay, and stereo imaging. The BPM-syncable two-tap delay has time and feedback controls per channel and adds a darker tone to the sound.

Trooper can be used in both monophonic and polyphonic mode, with the polyphonic mode providing up to 12 voices. Legato is available in either mode. The MIDI implementation in Trooper is robust and includes MPE support, allowing for expressive control. The synth also has MIDI I/O capabilities for performance data. The "MagTouch" virtual controller enables you to play and record over the MPE protocol in AUv3 hosts that support it. MIDI learn is made easy with a visual interface, and users can save, patch-link, and share MIDI CC maps. Bluetooth MIDI input is also supported.

Trooper's AUv3 implementation allows you to run multiple instances of the synth in DAWs. Its fluid UI adapts to different screen sizes and view configurations, making it versatile and user-friendly. The iPad implementation even supports a portrait layout, giving you easy access to all of its features on a single screen.

With over 250 presets included, Trooper offers a wide range of sounds for various musical styles. From deep basses to unique textures, there is something for everyone. The powerful YPAT2 system makes it easy to save, catalog, and share presets.

For quick and efficient idea capturing, the standalone app provides a "Tapedeck" feature where you can record, save, and share your musical ideas. It also includes a built-in looper and a metronome with configurable time signatures. The standalone app supports tap tempo and MIDI clock syncing for precise timing. Trooper's high-resolution 64-bit DSP ensures top-quality audio processing at up to 96kHz.
